Katy ISD holds official dedication ceremonies for new elementary schools

The Katy Independent School District held official dedication ceremonies for the new Fred and Patti Shafer and Maurice L. Wolfe elementary schools in October.

Both ceremonies included special guests, performances by student groups and more

The Wolfe Elementary School held their dedication ceremony Tuesday, Oct. 9. The Wolfe Star Dancers and Alicia Lore, a Wolfe alumna, performed during the school's dedication ceremony. Maurice Wolfe, the man whom the school was named after, was in attendance at the ceremony. Wolfe was honored for his commitment to the school. During the ceremony, British Petroleum presented school officials with a donation check in the amount of $16,889 to purchase SMART Document Cameras for the school, according to a school district press release.

Fred and Patti Schafer Elementary held their dedication ceremonies Thursday, Oct. 18. The school board president, Rebecca Fox, led the ceremony. Texas Senator Glenn Hegar was in attendance to present the Texas flag.

Katy ISD will hold additional school dedications for Seven Lakes Junior High from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, Ray and Jamie Wolman Elementary from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, and Tom Wilson Elementary from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29.
