Filmmaker wants to make an impact
Senior Steven Canales has many successes under his belt, including screening his documentary at a film festival. “Nevertheless,” he says, “outside the academic realm, my proudest achievement is successfully losing 70 pounds. It took every ounce of fortitude within my body not to quit when the going got tough. Within seven months, my hard work had shown itself through, and here I stand today, 70 pounds lighter.”

FAVORITE CLASS: Film. “It involves all the technical aspects of filmmaking, which I find to be very intriguing, from the theory to the practice of the craft.”
FAVORITE TV SHOW: “Breaking Bad.” “The show displays mastery in cinematography as well as in script writing and character development.”

FAVORITE MOVIE: “300.” “The way (Zack Snyder) utilized the green screen and CGI has really impacted the way I see film and the many different ways you can tell a story in a gripping manner.”
AMBITION: “To leave a positive impact upon the world, no matter how small or large.”
