2012 Demographic Update presented during Katy ISD Board meeting
An update on demographics of Katy Independent School District was given at a Monday, Oct. 29 board meeting.
Tom Gunnell, chief operations officer, gave the update with an emphasis on the west, northwest and southwest corridors. The updated report projects that the area will see more than 34,000 new housing units over the next 10 years. Katy ISD is the 12th largest school district in the state and 67th largest in the country.
The report also included an update on the attendance boundary modifications for High School No. 7. The school is set to open next fall with at least 804 students in grade 9 and 10.
The full demographic report is available by visiting www.katyisd.org and clicking "Attendance Boundary Modification." The public is invited to give feedback on the preliminary ABM option by calling 281-396-2114 or emailing communications@katyisd.org.
The board will make its final recommendation in December.
