Blue Bell Ice Cream honors Winborn Elementary as a Blue Ribbon School
Winborn Elementary School was recently honored with an ice cream party by Bell Bell Ice Creameries to celebrate being named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School.
According to a press release, students, students' families, teachers and staff members were treated to ice cream at Winborn Elementary, at 22555 Prince George, in Katy, Thursday, Nov. 15.
Winborn Elementary was selected as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for being among one of the highest-performing schools in Texas and having at least 40 percent of students from disadvantaged backgrounds that have improved student performance to high levels.
The ice cream party was Blue Bell's way of expressing pride for the accomplishment.
"At Blue Bell, we recognize the importance of encouraging and honoring schools that have achieved educational excellence," Paul Kruse, CEO and president of Blue Bell Creameries, said in the release. "We are well aware that such high levels of achievement require tremendous effort from students, teachers, administrators and parents. This is Blue Bells way of showing how proud we are."
