Tom Wilson Elementary hosts Character Parade

Students at Tom Wilson Elementary School participated in a Characters Parade in October.

Teachers incorporated different types of book character studies in the classroom and Wednesday, Oct. 31, students, teachers and staff were given the opportunity to participate in the TWE Character Parade.

Parents watched as the parade progressed around the perimeter of the school and back to the classroom for character reading instruction.

According to the press release, Tom Wilson Elementary assistant principal Charlotte Gilder stated, "Students not only loved the chance to dress up as a book character, but they also had a great time seeing all of their friends and teachers do the same."

A number of teachers opted to dress in unison from one book, then taking the opportunity to instruct the students about characterization and character traits in literature throughout the day.

All office staff members, including principal Rhonda Henderson, dressed up as characters from "The Wizard of Oz."

Tom Wilson Elementary School is at 5200 Falcon Landing Blvd., Katy.
