Katy Library offers free adult, children's programs in December

December's schedule of classes and events for the Katy Library has been set.

In observance of Christmas, the library will close from Thursday, Dec. 21 until 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26.

These programs, sponsored by the Friends of the Katy Library, are free and open to the public.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, Santa will visit the library at 1 p.m. In addition to snacks and activities, photos with Santa will also be taken.  

The Club Hispano de Libros/Spanish Book Club will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, with the group of Spanish-speaking adults discussing a chosen book.

The library will also offer Superación Personal, a motivational address conducted in Spanish, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The Book and Bite Book Club meets from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday,  Dec. 27. This month's selection is "The Christmas List" by Richard Paul Evans. Food is provided.

In addition, the library will offer its regular weekly events, including:

Baby Bounce, 10:15 a.m. Mondays; storytime for infants 3 months to 18 months

Genealogy Lunchbox, noon Mondays; an informal genealogy get-together

Toddler Time, 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays; for children 18 months to 3 years old

Knitting and Crochet Group, 1 p.m. Wednesdays; for all skill levels, beginners to advanced

Preschool Storytime, 10:30 a.m. Thursdays; for children 3 to 6 years old

Basic Chinese, 5 p.m. Thursdays; fundamentals of the Chinese language

Spanish Computer Classes, 4:30 p.m. Fridays; instruction in Spanish
