Katy ISD receives third consecutive Gold Leadership Circle Award
For the third year in a row, the Katy Independent School District was honored with the Gold Leadership Circle Award by the Texas Comptrollers Office.
According to a press release, the award recognizes cities, counties, schools and other special districts across the state that display great transparency in financial reporting.
Honorees open their books to the public, providing clear and consistent pictures of spending. Information is shared in a user-friendly format that allows taxpayers easy access.
Katy ISD received a score of 18 out of 20 points on the 2012 ratings criteria, qualifying it for a gold award.
Silver awards are given to entities making progress in transparency efforts, while bronze awards are given to entities just beginning transparency efforts.
