The Katy Independent School District and community residents recently celebrated the dedication of the newest district campus in Katy.
Wolman Elementary was dedicated by Katy ISD Board President Rebecca Fox and campus namesakes Ray and Jamie Wolman, according to a school district press release.
The Explorer Chorale provided musical performances, and students of the new school unveiled a portrait of the Wolmans. The two were honored at the dedication for their commitment to the students of the district.
Special guests at the ceremony included Glenn Hegar, state senator from District 18; Alton Frailey, district superintendent; Joe Adams, district board vice president; former school board members; and Wolman family members and friends.
Ray and Jamie Wolman Elementary officially opened its doors in August 2012. The campus colors are red, black and silver, and the mascot is an explorer. The school is led by Kelly Ricks, principal and Angela Kovar, assistant principal.
Wolman Elementary is at 28727 N. Firethorne Road, Katy.
