ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: Stephanie Yard

Q: Do you have a favorite Olympic swimmer?
A: My favorite swimmer is Natalie Coughlin. She has great sportsmanship, and she’s also into things outside of swimming, like cooking and animals. She’s just a really nice role model.

Q: Who inspires you the most?
A: Probably my parents. They don’t push me. They encourage me. They’re always on my side, and they’re very supportive of whatever I want to do.

Q: How have your coaches made you a better swimmer?
A: Coaches work on my stroke, which helps a lot. But they’re also encouraging me to push myself when I get lazy or slack off.

Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: I really like the outdoors. I like camping and hiking.
