Residents of Cenikor Foundation's Deer Park facility recently held car washes to help raise money for families in need.
According to a press release, residents of the substance abuse treatment center used the money to purchase gift cards, which were distributed to six families.
A total of $3,609 was divided among three families from Pasadena Independent School District's Park View Elementary, a family from Deer Park Independent School District's Carpenter Elementary, a family from Deer Park Independent School District's North Campus and a family from Pasadena Independent School District's Kruse Elementary.
Cenikor residents hope the money will assist families pay rent, bills and apartment deposits.
"We are proud of our residents for giving back to the community and thinking about others during the holidays," said Jerry Hall, director of the Deer Park facility and vice president of the Cenikor Foundation, in the release.
The Deer Park facility is at 4525 Glenwood Ave.
