Texas State Championship Duck Calling Contest announced for Jan. 12
Newell Cheatheam, president of Newell's Designs in Katy, announced that the Texas State Championship Duck Calling Contest will be hosted on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Texas Tackle and Hunting Show in Mesquite.
Newell Cheatheam, president of Newell's Designs in Katy, announced that the Texas State Championship Duck Calling Contest will be hosted on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Texas Tackle and Hunting Show in Mesquite.
Cheatheam, an avid outdoorsman and waterfowl hunter, is the state calling contest chairman, and the World Championship Duck Calling Contest Committee sanctions the contest, according to a press release.
Contestants must be at least 17 years of age to participate in the event.
Check-in will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dallas Convention Center, at 1750 Rodeo Drive, Mesquite. Competition will begin by early afternoon.
The winner will represent Texas in the World Championship Duck Calling Contest to be held Thanksgiving weekend in November 2013.
In coordination with the contest, the Texas Tackle and Hunting Show runs from Friday, Jan. 11 through Sunday, Jan. 13.
