The following women's basketball players, all with Katy high school ties, have scheduled action this week:

Ashleigh Nwanguma, Houston Baptist University

This week: Saturday, Feb. 2, versus Utah Valley University
About Nwanguma: Nwanguma is a freshman guard for Houston Baptist University. She is a 2012 graduate of Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, where she was MVP. The psychology major from Katy is the daughter of George and Grace Nwanguma.

Megan Palmer, Rice University
Position: Forward
High school: Cinco Ranch High School

Thursday, Jan. 31, at Memphis
Sunday, Feb. 3, versus University of Alabama at Birmingham
About Palmer: Palmer is a freshman forward for Rice University. She is a 2012 graduate of Cinco Ranch High School, where she won the Senior Captain's Award and was active in National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Palmer is from Katy and is the daughter of John and Patty Palmer.

Colby Adolph, Schreiner University
Position: Forward
High School: Mayde Creek High School

About Adolph: Adolph is a 2009 graduate of Mayde Creek High School. She is a senior forward on the women's basketball team at Schreiner University. Adolph was an academic all-conference selection during her junior season (2011-12) with the Mountaineers. Adolph is the daughter of Willie and Tikila Adolph. She is majoring in biochemsitry, pre-pharmacy with a minor in Spanish. Adolph is from Katy.

Christina Kurt, University of Dallas
High school: Faith West Academy

About Kurt: Kurt is a 2011 graduate of Faith West Academy, where she starred on the basketball court. As a senior (2010-11) Kurt was first-team all-district, first-team all-state, district most valuable player, TAPPS all-star nominee and TAPPS all-star runner-up MVP while helping Faith West to a state runner-up finish. As a junior (2009-10) Kurt was first-team all-district, second-team all-state and team MVP. She was first-team all-district, honorable mention all-state and team MVP during her sophomore season (2008-09). Kurt also participated in cross country as a sophomore when she was a member of the all-state team and team MVP. The Katy native is the daughter of Paul and Karen Kurt and is a pre-law major.
