Katy athletes in action: Men's basketball

The following men's basketball players, all with Katy high school ties, have scheduled action this week:

Kevin Foster, Santa Clara University
High school: Morton Ranch High School
This week: Saturday, Feb. 2, at Brigham Young University
About Foster: Named one of Texas' top 30 recruits, Foster played at Morton Ranch for coach Corey Palmer in 2004-2008. His senior year (2007-2008) Foster was named MVP and All-District 18-5A First Team. He was also named All-District 18-5A Team and All-Greater Houston Second Team, both in his junior year (2006-2007). He is the son of Rick and Gilda Foster.

Ashton Johnson, Northern New Mexico College
Position: Forward
High school: Cinco Ranch High School
This week: Saturday, Feb. 2, at Oglala Lakota College
About Johnson: Johnson is a freshman forward for Northern New Mexico College. He is a 2012 graduate of Cinco Ranch High School in Katy. Johnson is from Houston.

Trey Pinkney, Stephen F. Austin State University
Position: Guard
High School: Seven Lakes High School

About Pinkney: Pinkney is a freshman guard for Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a 2012 graduate of Seven Lakes High School in Katy where he was MVP. Pinkney is from Katy.

Patrick Costello, Stephen F. Austin State University
Position: Forward
High school: Pope John XXIII High School
This week: Saturday, Feb. 2, at Lamar University
About Costello: Costello is a freshman forward for Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a 2012 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School in Katy, where he scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds per game. Costello is from Houston.

Jaylon Jones, Truman State University
Position: Forward
High school: Seven Lakes High School
This week: Saturday, Feb. 2, at Southwest Baptist University
About Jones: Jones is a freshman forward for Truman State University. He is a 2012 graduate of Seven Lakes High School in Katy where he won all-district honors. Jones is from Katy.
