Katy ISD to name new high school after Obra D. Tompkins
Katy Independent School District chose to name its newest campus named after a retired educator at its board meeting Tuesday, Jan. 22.
According to a press release from the district, "The board approved the naming of Katy ISD's newest campus, High School No. 7, after retired educator Obra D. Tompkins. Obra D. Tompkins High School will open in fall 2013 and is located at 4400 Falcon Landing Blvd."
Katy Independent School District is at 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy.

The Katy Independent School District serves more than 6,200 students in an area that encompasses 181 square miles in East Texas. The district's boundaries stretch from Houston's energy corridor approximately 16 miles west of downtown Houston to a few miles west of the city of Katy along Interstate 10. The district has 53 schools including six four-year high schools.
