The following women's basketball players, both with Katy high school ties, will see action this week:

Megan Palmer, Rice University
Position: Forward
High school: Cinco Ranch High School
This week: Sunday, Feb. 10, versus University of Houston
About Palmer: Palmer is a freshman forward for Rice University. She is a 2012 graduate of Cinco Ranch High School, where she won the Senior Captain's Award and was active in the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Palmer is from Katy and is the daughter of John and Patty Palmer.

Ashleigh Nwanguma, Houston Baptist University
Position: Guard
High school: Cinco Ranch High School
This week: Saturday, Feb. 9, versus University of New Orleans
About Nwanguma: Nwanguma is a freshman guard for Houston Baptist University. She is a 2012 graduate of Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, where she was MVP. The psychology major from Katy is the daughter of George and Grace Nwanguma.
