Schmidt Funeral Home to open second location in Katy

Schmidt Funeral Home of Katy has announced it will build a second facility by the Grand Parkway in Katy.

According to a press release dated Thursday, Feb. 7, Schmidt Funeral Home and its owner, Carriage Services, have purchased 10 acres fronting the Grand Parkway. Construction will begin immediately.

"We are pleased to announce the expansion of Schmidt Funeral Home with our new Grand Parkway location," said Hank Schmidt, of Schmidt Funeral Home, in the release. "We've proudly served Katy and its surrounding areas since 1945, and we appreciate Carriage Service's commitment to the community we've loved and supported for many decades."

"This new facility will absolutely be first class and will allow us to serve families better than ever," added Melvin Payne, CEO of Carriage Services, in the release. "We are well known throughout the communities we serve for our values, traditions and commitment to excellent service and care; construction of the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway proves just that."

The new facility will be located near Grand Parkway and Bay Hill Boulevard, south of I-10.

Schmidt Funeral Home is at 1508 E. Ave.
