Katy athletes in action: Men's basketball

The following men's basketball players, all with Katy high school ties, will see action this week:

Kevin Foster, Santa Clara University

About Foster: Named one of Texas' top 30 recruits, Foster played at Morton Ranch for coach Corey Palmer in 2004-2008. His senior year (2007-2008) Foster was named MVP and All-District 18-5A First Team. He was also named All-District 18-5A First Team and All-Greater Houston Second Team, both in his junior year (2006-2007). He is the son of Rick and Gilda Foster.

Patrick Costello, Stephen F. Austin State University
Position: Forward
High School: Pope John XXIII High School

About Costello: Costello is a freshman forward for Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a 2012 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School in Katy, where he scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds per game. Costello is from Houston.

Trey Pinkney, Stephen F. Austin State University

About Pinkney: Pinkney is a freshman guard for Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a 2012 graduate of Seven Lakes High School in Katy, where he was MVP. Pinkney is from Katy.

Atif Russell, Pepperdine University

About Russell: Russell is a freshman guard for Pepperdine University. He is a 2012 graduate of Seven Lakes High School in Katy. Russell is from Katy and is the son of Leonard and LaDonna Russell.

Jaylon Jones, Truman State University

High school: Seven Lakes High School
This week: Thursday, Feb. 14, versus Southwest Baptist University
About Jones: Jones is a freshman forward for Truman State University. He is a 2012 graduate of Seven Lakes High School in Katy, where he won all-district honors. Jones is from Katy.
